Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026
Dear Quad is a student-built web app that lets verified UChicago community members anonymously drop short text memories on a campus map. These terms explain what you’re agreeing to when you use it. Like the rest of this project, we’ve kept them short and human-readable.
Who can use Dear Quad
Dear Quad is open only to current University of Chicago students, faculty, and staff. You sign in with your UChicago Google account via Google OAuth. One account per person. Don’t share your login or try to create multiple accounts.
What you can (and can't) do
Use Dear Quad to drop genuine, good-faith memories on the map. Don’t use it to:
- Post content that is illegal, threatening, harassing, defamatory, sexually explicit, or violates University policy.
- Spam, flood, or abuse the platform.
- Impersonate another person.
- Attempt to de-anonymize other users or reverse-engineer how pins are stored.
- Scrape, bot, or otherwise programmatically access the service without permission.
- Interfere with the site’s infrastructure or security.
We reserve the right to remove any pin that violates these rules or our community guidelines.
Your content
When you drop a pin, the text you write is yours. By posting it, you give Dear Quad a license to store and display it on the map as part of operating the service. As described in our Privacy Policy, pins are stored anonymously and are not linked to your account.
If you send us feedback, bug reports, or suggestions, we may use those ideas to improve the service without obligation to credit or compensate you.
Moderation and account suspension
We can remove pins, restrict features, or suspend accounts that violate these terms or harm the community. If your account is suspended, don’t create a new one.
The service is provided as-is
Dear Quad is a side project maintained by one student. It is provided as-is, with no warranties of any kind (express or implied), including reliability, availability, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. The site may go down, have bugs, or change without notice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site or any content posted by users.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the project evolves. If we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of Dear Quad after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
